In this chapter—an extended prayer of Jesus to the Father—Jesus offers his disciples the ultimate assurance of his love, power, and protection as he prepares to depart for the cross. This Sunday Michael Bouterse will teach on the opening section of the prayer in 17:1-5, whose central concern is glory. It’s not a call to live in fear of judgment but an encouragement to be faithful with the Gospel, resting in Christ’s finished work and grace. This shift in understanding turns fear into faith and hope.

Alright, let me just say if there is going to be foot washing—this might be the only time in church where you start wondering, “Did I pick the right socks today?” or “I probably should’ve gotten that pedicure…”

Foot washing isn’t exactly something we’re used to. In fact, in our daily lives, we go out of our way not to deal with other people’s feet! And yet, this simple, slightly awkward act carries a powerful message.

When Jesus Christ knelt down to wash His disciples’ feet, He showed us that love often looks like humility—and sometimes even a little discomfort. It’s about setting aside pride, serving one another, and remembering that no act of love is too small.

So come this Sunday and learn how you can wash your neighbor's or a stranger's feet, without even touching them.

Many of us understand grace as a theological position. And it is delightfully that. Undeserved, Unending, Unearned, Unwavering grace is God's inexhaustible love and absolute acceptance of us, coupled with his unabashed delight in us. Grace brings us adoption into God's family, a new identity, a new life, new power, new capacity, and God's full protection - with absolutely no strings attached!

But grace is much more than a theological position. Equally and simultaneously, grace is an actual environment, an atmosphere, a realm, a present-tense reality that weaves around and through every moment of even our worst day. God's gift of grace continuously and always surrounds us. When we approach the “throne of grace” we are not coming to a throne made out of grace. The triune God lives in the realm of grace. Jesus who lived on this earth came to us full of grace and truth. This Sunday Mike Zeitner will describe the “particles” that make up this atmosphere of grace.
